But Germany will have to wait to see if they have reached the knockout stage as they finished third in Group B.
While even a win would have potentially needed mathematical miracles to see Vanuatu through, owing to their goal difference, Germany knew that three points would certainly put them in the mix for, if not guarantee, progression.
Even so, the European side made heavy weather of finally getting off the mark, with Dick Taiwia - a standout performer - saving well on three occasions before Philipp Ochs picked up the final rebound to see Malcolm Badu register their first goal of the tournament.
A second came soon after, with a quick throw-in allowing Suat Serdar to square for Fabian Reese's tap in.
The crowd were behind Vanuatu but a penalty, confirmed by the video assistant referee, saw Germany have the chance to seemingly finish things, only to see Serdar's effort saved.
Emmanuel Iyoha bagged the Europeans' third on 50 minutes before a spill by Germany goalkeeper Svend Brodersen saw Bong Kalo willingly mop up the opportunity, netting Vanuatu's first of the game.
With the Oceania nation heading out, Kalo did something special to remember them by - curling in a sweet free-kick to draw the biggest cheer of the day.
