India and Fiji have signed an agreement to strengthen defence and security ties.

The Hindustan Times reports the deal was signed after the Indian defence minister, Arun Jaitley, held talks with his Fijian counterpart, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, during which they also agreed to deepen maritime security co-operation.
In an Memorandum of Understanding the ministers envisage several areas of cooperation including military training, humanitarian assistance and disaster management.
