Fiji's elections supervisor Mohammed Saneem says a Pakistani tech company awarded a contract by the Fijian Elections Office has been cleared of terrorism financing allegations.

The Pakistani National Database and Registration Authority (NADA) won the job of developing an election management system for Fiji, amidst reports its officials provided terrorists with fake national identity cards.

Mr Saneem told the Fiji Times these reports were speculative and said the company had passed an audit by an assessment team that included the New Zealand High Commission.

NADA beat out five other companies in 2016 for the contract, which includes more than $US600,000 of funding from the New Zealand government as part of an aid programme.
