The University of the South Pacific is looking forward to what can be achieved together with the Asian Development Bank over the next five years.

The Asian Development Bank and the USP signed a co-operation agreement in Manila this month.

USP vice chancellor and president Rajesh Chandra said there were various plans like building capacity with economic policy and project implementation as well as a focus on renewable energy.

He said they have a $20 million proposal to convert six campuses to solar with huge potential to do more.

"This is the first agreement that the USP has with a financial institution, like Asian Development Bank and it is the first partnership that ADB has with a university and so in that sense, I think we are both breaking new ground here," Mr Chandra said.
