Police in Samoa have reopened their investigation into the disappearance of a man in 2013, saying that new evidence has come to light.

A police spokesperson, Sala'a Moananu Sala'a says two men have been taken in for questioning, refusing to further elaborate.

But the Samoa Observer newspaper reports that it understands the men were taken in for questioning on an unrelated crime, but the disappearance came up during questioning.

Sala'a says the police have contacted divers to help with the search for the missing man.
