11:26 am on 17 August 2017

Samoa's new international airline has reached an agreement with Icelandair Group to lease a 737 aircraft.

The Prime Minister Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi said Samoa Airways would start with one aircraft to fly from Samoa to Auckland, Brisbane and Sydney.

He said the three routes fitted perfectly into the airline's partnership with Fiji Airways.

Samoa Airways is scheduled to begin flights in November.
