American Samoa's Pago Pago airport will receive $US3 million to repair one of its runways.
The grant was part of $US162 million distributed by the US Department of Transportation to 72 US airports.
The department's secretary Elaine Chao said the Airport Improvement Programme was helping to maintain US aviation infrastructure while improving security and safety
She said the investment in American Samoa's airport would enhance the economic vitality of the region.
