Greenpeace joins throngs honouring Tony de Brum

The environmental activist group Greenpeace has joined leaders from around the Pacific in mourning the death of the former Marshall Islands climate ambassador, Tony de Brum.

Mr de Brum died this week aged 72.

Greenpeace called him a fearless voice in the battle for global climate safety.

Greenpeace Australia Pacific chief executive David Ritter said Mr de Brum was tireless in his dedication to the pursuit of security and sustainability for his people .

He said Mr de Brum demonstrated to vulnerable nations facing climate crisis that victory is always possible and no obstacle is insurmountable.
