French Polynesia's president has used his powers to strike off a doctor at Tahiti's public hospital because of a drug conviction.
According to Tahiti-infos, Edourad Fritch decided to ban him from the profession for life after the doctors' association had suspended him for 18 months.

In 2014, the unnamed doctor received a parcel from Belgium with three grams of methamphetamine.
After the discovery of more banned drugs at his home, he was convicted,but he appealed.
In April, the appeal court upheld his conviction and gave him a suspended eight-month prison sentence and fined him $US14,000.
Last month, a surgeon allegedly working under the influence of drugs at a Papeete clinic, was fined over a brawl with a colleague in the operating theatre.
