Solomons joins Interpol

The Solomon Islands has become a member of the international policing organisation Interpol.

Police commissioner Matthew Varley said the move connects the force with 192 other member countries.

He said the force will set up an Interpol bureau in Honiara, which will be led by assistant commissioner Ian Vaevaso.

Mr Varley said Interpol membership will help in combating transnational crime.
