PNG police superintendent in capital suspended

The deputy police commissioner in Papua New Guinea has suspended the Port Moresby superintendent Ben Turi.

Jim Andrews said he has suspended Mr Turi for a period of 21 days over allegations of serious disciplinary offences.

In 2016, a commission of inquiry was established to examine the shooting of protesting university students by police under Mr Turi's command.

It's not known if the inquiry and the suspension are linked.
