Former French Poly minister and govt official held for 40 hours

Investigators in French Polynesia have released a former works minister Albert Solia and a top government official after holding them for nearly 40 hours for questioning.

They were among six people detained for questioning over alleged favouritism in the attribution of a public works contract.

No charges have been laid.

Investigators are probing how in 2015 the contract to provide street lighting along Papeete's waterfront was allocated to a company which had earlier failed to meet tendering conditions in another matter.
