A Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources' official Ferral Lasi says his country is aiming to maximize the industry's potential.

This came after a trip to Iceland to observe how that country has become wealthy on the back of its fishing industry.

Mr Lasi said they wanted to ensure Solomon Islanders can get their high value fish to the market quickly.

"The infrastructure will be in place for them to bring to an area which we will call the hub. And it is from the hub where it can be profitably exported. This is the sort of idea we are getting from Iceland."
