Five Indonesian police officers are in Papua New Guinea to help train local police in preparation for the 2018 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting.

According to The National, these officers are to provide training in small fire arms use and intelligence sharing to help PNG manage security when it hosts APEC next November.
PNG's acting deputy police commissioner for operations David Manning said that Indonesia has valuable experience having hosted APEC previously.
According to him, the PNG constabulary are pleased to be recipients of the shared knowledge, experience, and skills required to host a successful APEC summit.
Indonesia's Ambassador in PNG, Ronald Manik, formally opened the training programme which will run for three weeks in Port Moresby.
