Imperial Pacific Resorts in the Northern Marianas says it's still on target to complete its $US507-million dollar complex on Saipan by its August 2018 deadline, despite a shortage of construction workers.

The Hong Kong-based company's chair, Mark Brown, said he was still confident that they would open the hotel phase of the structure by the middle of next year.

He said, currently, 200 construction workers were on the site now and 200 more are expected to be hired soon.

Mr Brown said Imperial Pacific Resort would fully realise its integrated resort concept after the completion of the 300-room hotel, as it wouldn't only cater to those who love to play in the casino, but also those who enjoy restaurants, shop, and just have a good time in a top-flight resort.

He said last week's hosting of the Marianas International Film Festival is just the first of many international events Imperial Pacific will host.
