France proposes abortion changes for territories

The French government has been presented with proposed law changes to approve new regulations about medically induced abortions for French Polynesia and New Caledonia.

According to the text, the system is to be aligned with the regulations already in place in mainland France and to give midwives the authority to be able to carry out medically induced abortions.

The proposed law changes also provides for doctors in Wallis and Futuna the right to prescribe physical activity to patients being treated for a chronic illness.

The law change plans to extend the right to write out presricption to hospital pharamacies in view of a lack of doctors.
