The French overseas minister Annick Girardin today begins a five-day official visit to French Polynesia - her first since assuming office.

Ms Girardin will meet government leaders in Papeete today before flying to the Marquesas islands for two days.
She is expected to launch a committee to set up an archive on the legacy of the French nuclear weapons tests which were carried out between 1966 and 1996.
The minister will also visit Arutua atoll in the Tuamotu archipelago before wrapping up her stay.
The visit to Tahiti follows discussions with the French Polynesian president Edouard Fritch when he was in Paris late last year.
