Sport: Guam lose opening Davis Cup tie

Guam have been well beaten on their Davis Cup tennis debut in Oman.

The US Territory was outclassed 3-0 by Singapore in their opening tie in Asia/Oceania Zone Group Four.

Christopher Cajigan took the opening singles rubber to three sets before succumbing 3-6 6-4 4-6 to Roy Hobbs.

Former Pacific Oceania representative Daniel Llarenas was edged 7-5 in a crucial first set tie-breaker against Shaheed Alam before dropping the second set 6-2.

Mason Caldwell and Jean Pierre Huynh were then outclassed 6-3 6-2 in the doubles.

Guam's next opponent is Mongolia who had a 2-1 victory against Bahrain.
