Guam has missed out on promotion in the Davis Cup tennis competition after an agonising 2-0 loss against host nation Oman in Muscat.

Christopher Cajigan went 6-3 up in the opening singles rubber against Mohammed Al Nabhani before dropping the second set by the same scoreline.

The 19-year-old fought back from two breaks down at 1-4 in the final set but squandered six match points before eventually losing in a tie-break 7-4.

The second singles rubber followed a similar fashion with Daniel Llarenas claiming the opening set 6-1.

But Abdullah Al Barwani responded strongly, taking the second 6-3 before closing out the match 7-5 to seal promotion to Asia/Oceania Zone Group Three.

Singapore also earned promotion from Group Four after beating the United Arab Emirates 2-1 in the other semi final.
