A man was killed in a gunfire exchange in Papua New Guinea after police disrupted a bank heist.
Police said an officer intervened in a robbery attempt at a branch of Bank South Pacific in Madang on PNG's north coast.
As the suspects dispersed, other police took up pursuit and engaged in a gun battle with them.
One of the suspects was shot dead, while three of them - who were subsequently arrested - were seriously injured.
They are being treated at Madang's Modilon Hospital, according to police.
Three other suspects remain at large.
