A company based in Samoa and one in the Marshall Islands have their assets frozen for providing banned shipping services to North Korea.
Reuters reported the two wre among 21 shipping companies which the United Nations Security Council had blacklisted over oil and coal smuggling by North Korea.
The United States boosted pressure on Pyongyang by seeking action against the companies - including five based in China - and 15 North Korean ships.

The sanctions were passed on a request from the US as part of a global crackdown on the smuggling of North Korean commodities in violation of UN sanctions resolutions.
They were adopted in response to Pyongyang's nuclear and ballistic missile tests.
Another dozen non-North Korean ships now face a global port ban and must be deregistered.
