Vanuatu's Minister of Home Affairs has announced his intention to introduce meters on all taxis to reduce fares and stop incidents of fleecing customers.
Andrew Napuat tells the Daily Post that currently in the absence of such metres, taxi drivers overcharge their customers and the practice has to stop.
Mr Napuat says he also plans to stop buses from operating at night to provide more opportunities for taxi operators.
