Fiji's Koro Islanders forage to survive post Winston

From , 3:03 pm on 22 August 2016

People on Fiji's devastated Koro Island are foraging for wild food, milling their own timber and sewing fishing nets out of vines to survive six months after Cyclone Winston.

Koro took a direct hit and has been described as Ground Zero for the Category 5 storm which flattened whole villages and killed 44 people in Fiji.

Fiji Red Cross' Disaster Officer, Itu Josaia, visited three weeks ago with tarpaulins and shelter kits after a cry for help from Koro Islanders.

He told Sally Round after the first wave assistance the islanders are making do on their own.
