Volatile economic outlook for Pacific: World Bank

From , 6:02 am on 10 October 2016

The economic outlook for Pacific Islands is extremely volatile according the latest report from the World Bank.

The "Reducing Vulnerabilities" report actually predicts a stable growth outlook for East Asia and the Pacific up until 2018.

But says the Pacific as a region in itself is vulnerable to external shocks from the global economy as well the high risk of natural disasters.

World Bank senior economist Virginia Horscroft told Koroi Hawkins the report recommends that to reduce their vulnerability Pacific Island countries should focus on maximising revenue from existing resources and improving basic service delivery.
