A spokesperson for UN Women says the Markets for Change programme has made life safer for rural women going to town markets in Fiji.

Markets for Change Fiji project manager Anna Parini says the programme is also about improving the livelihoods for the women that comprise up to 90 percent of regional market vendors.

Along with Fiji, Markets for Change is active in Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

Representatives from the three countries met in Nadi last week at the Regional Stakeholder Forum to exchange knowledge aimed at improving lives and livelihoods for rural women when they bring produce to market.
