Solomon Islands businesses are being encouraged to help raise awareness about domestic violence.

Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and is marked as White Ribbon Day in several parts of the Pacific.

A march this morning through the Solomons' capital Honiara was supported by a number of businesses and co-ordinated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry working with the World Bank's International Finance Corporation.

Don Wiseman spoke with the IFC's Ruth Maetala and began by asking her about reports that domestic violence in Solomon Islands is by far the worst criminal activity there.
