Regrets - NGOs have a few over Pacific tuna talks

From , 5:03 am on 16 December 2016

The environmental group, WWF, along with other NGOs, emerged from last week's meeting of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission, or Tuna Commission, with a series of regrets.

The Commission clearly has a hard road to hoe, bringing together the distant water nations and the Pacific Island countries.

There were some successes, most notably improved safety for observers, but a long list of failures to take action.

For the WWF a critical one is the failure to follow requests for action over shark finning, as spokesman Bubba Cook explained to Don Wiseman.
