Tuvalu PM calls for more action on shipping industry emissions

From , 5:03 am on 3 May 2017

Tuvalu's prime minister says more needs to be done to account for emissions from the global shipping industry.

At a regional transport and energy forum in Tonga last week, Enele Sopoaga said the industry contributes a significant amount of greenhouse gases, but there is currently no model to account for them.

Mr Sopoaga told Jamie Tahana that while some improvements have been made, he wants a global, over-arching response from the International Maritime Organisation.
