Changes proving tough for some Norfolk Islanders

From , 5:05 am on 16 June 2017

Beverley Buffett from Norfolk Island says many people there are struggling in the wake of the Australian absorption of the island's government a year ago.

Australia, citing concerns that Norfolk could no longer pay its way, removed the island's autonomy and shut down the legislative council.

A regional council now runs minor matters while the big decisions are made in New South Wales.

The change remains controversial and Ms Buffett told Don Wiseman some people on the island are really hurting.
