From , 3:05 pm on 4 August 2017

Over $US600,000 of World Bank financing that was meant to go towards cyclone recovery in Tonga is unaccounted for, triggering a government investigation.

The Ha'apai group was hit hard by Cyclone Ian in 2014, killing one, injuring dozens and leaving thousands homeless.

The reconstruction effort has been plagued by delays, miscommunication and  land issues with many families still without homes.

Ha'apai Governor Mo'ale Finau told Koro Vaka'uta he welcomes the investigation.

Massive damage remains after Cyclone Ian.
