A Vanuatu Cabinet minister says his government remains fully committed to creating reserved seats for women in parliament.

The minister of internal affairs, Andrew Napuat, was responding to local reports that he had told the 15th conference of the Vanuatu National Council of Women that current opportunities for women to enter parliament were adequate.

He told Don Wiseman that his comments have been misconstrued.
