Radio New Zealand has received a Gold Medal from the prestigious New York Festival Radio Awards for ‘It’s One Thing To Climb A Mountain’, a documentary by veteran producer, Jack Perkins, on the life of Sir Edmund Hillary.
The annual New York Festival Radio Awards recognise the world’s best radio broadcasting with a Grand Jury of international experts assessing work from hundreds of individuals and networks in more than 30 countries.
The award follows success for Jack Perkins at the recent New Zealand Radio Awards where he won Best Documentary for his work on Sir Edmund Hillary, and received a Special Recognition for Services to Broadcasting award in acknowledgment of his work in radio over more than 50 years.
Jack Perkins is a Senior Producer for Radio New Zealand National and runs the Spectrum radio documentary unit. ‘It’s One Thing To Climb A Mountain’ can be heard on the Radio New Zealand website.
