It's 25 years since homosexuality became legal in New Zealand. Ideas talks to former Wellington Central MP Fran Wilde, whose private members' Homosexual Law Reform Bill finally changed the law in this country; Wellington counsellor and gay activist Bill Logan on the campaign for homosexual law reform and his life as an out gay man; and Phylesha Brown-Acton of the New Zealand AIDS Foundation about her work around the Pacific where homosexuality remains illegal in many countries. 20 Years Out! marks the twentieth anniversary of the passage of the Homosexual Law Reform Bill in New Zealand. Using a rich combination of archival material and personal reflection, the documentary explores the passionate arguments for and against homosexual law reform.
The documentary has been split up into eight streaming audio segments which can be found in the index on the left hand side of each page.
Sincere thanks must go to the group of volunteers at the Lesbian and Gay Archives of New Zealand who have enabled this documentary to be made, and to the many individuals who recorded and kept the majority of this material before depositing it with LAGANZ.
