During Nights with Bryan Crump
Country Life this week meets Eric and Nancy Zwaan who run a community vege-box scheme from their organic farm up the Kauaeranga Valley and they’ve built a unique house out of straw and clay.
Also Malcolm Lumsden is mad about old military vehicles and restoring vintage tractors. He has sheds full of vehicles and parts on his north Waikato farm.
And Aawool marketer who arranged a direct supply deal between an Otago farm and a Japanese clothing company sees opportunities for other wool growers as well. Tony and Rebecca Clarke, of Closeburn Station, near Ranfurly in Otago's Maniototo district, have sent their first shipment of merino wool to a Japanese corporate-wear manufacturer and retailer, Konaka Co. The ultra-fine 15-micron wool they are supplying will be used to replace cashmere in a new range of winter garments.
