More than 250 million people suffer from type 2 diabetes, the result of a diet of fatty, sugary foods and a decrease in physical activity. Joining us is the International Diabetes Federation Western Pacific Region Conference organiser and Clinical Professor of Diabetes, Dr Russell Scott.

2:20 Couch Potatoes

Couch potatoes are in the sights of the Automobile Association, which has launched a campaign to get more of them out and about at the weekends.

The Association's predicting international visitor numbers will fall flat this winter, so is hoping to rejuvenate domestic travel with a $4-million advertising campaign highlighting weekend travel within the regions.

AA Tourism manager Peter Blackwell says the weekends are the perfect time for Kiwis to rediscover their country, and to stress the point he's released a list of 101 Must-Do Weekends.
