One of the biggest musical events ever staged in this country takes place in Hagley Park, Christchurch tomorrow. Thirty-four different acts are getting together in a fund raiser for Canterbury earthquake relief and the entire 11 hour show is free.

Band Together will see artists Anika Moa, Barry Saunders, Bic Runga, Che Fu, Dave Dobbyn, Dinah Lee and Julia Deans performing alomgside bands such as The Feelers, Midnight Youth, Evermore and The Exponents on two giant stages.

It's the brainchild of former Cantabrians; Music producer and New Zealand Idol Judge Paul Ellis and Opshop front man Jason Kerrison.

Today, on New Zealand Live, we are in Christchurch to bring you a bit of a preview of the event with help from four of the acts appearing tomorrow.

A debt of gratitude has now been repaid to a family in France, who risked their lives during the Second World War, to hide a New Zealand pilot from German soldiers. Terry Kearins, was shot down over Northern France in July, 1943. Badly burned, the Forgez family took Kearins in, treated his wounds, and hid him from German soldiers who often raided the farmhouse

Fame and the price it extracts from those who seek it, is the theme of a new musical inspired by the music of David Bowie. Rock and Roll Suicide will have its world premiere in Arrowtown next week. It's written and produced by Margaret O'Hanlon, an American singer, director and producer now living in Queenstown.
