2:10 The Brian Curtis Story - Greg Newbold - This afternoon, the funeral service was held for one of New Zealand's most colorful criminals, Brian James Curtis, who died of lung cancer on Sunday. The 79 year old  former drug lord led the kind of life that is the stuff of crime novels. A successful property developer,  he turned to a life of crime and drug dealing in the 1970's bringing millions of dollars worth of  heroin and LSD into the country before he was finally caught.
In 1993 he led a daring escape from Paremoremo Prison and left the country for 8 years before a dogged detective, now the deputy police commissioner Mike Bush , finally tracked him down. Brian Curtis was released on Parole a few years ago and died in hospice.

2:20 Full Tilt - Rebekah Tyler - What started as an adventure, a single mother doing an OE with a toddler and a 10 year old, then a dream to publish a book about the trip.. is now going to be a reality. Rebekah Tyler quit her job, sold her house and set off for eight months travelling to  6 countires including  Spain, Italy and Vietnam.
We spoke Rebekah  a few months ago when she first launched a fundraising campaign on the website, Kickstarter to come up with the money to finance a book about the trip called Full Tilt. Well this week she reached her goal.. in fact she went beyond it.

2:30 Reading - A riding lesson, a somersault and a visit to a dentist wielding pliers each leave Nora Brocas a little the worse for wear  in today's episode of 'One of the Family' -  Nora's tales from her Hokianga childhood in the early years of the 20th Century

4:06 On The Panel today are Finlay MacDonald and Karl du Fresne: Should we see Peter Dunne's emails ? More about privacy with a new book by distinguished authors claiming that Big Data is already ruling our lives to a significant degree, and questioning it's usefulness. How busy are you? It's interesting how much we outsource now. The homophobic abuse at Eden Park, at the rugby - should it be policed or not? The wisdom of buying a house in Auckland off the plan, as is the new trend with apartments, the terrible shortage of whisky, and how much use are helmets on bikes as the call goes out for them to be worn by children on scooters.
