It's a safe harbour that's welcomed ships for hundreds of years. But the antisocial behaviour on the wharves of Port Chalmers that we've been hearing about in the news is putting visitors off. And local tour operators have been banned by port authorities as a result. This coming season tour operators will no longer be allowed on the wharf, after complaints of operators fighting, abusing passengers, and even sleeping in their cars.
Cruise New Zealand chairman Craig Harris says it's a step in the right direction for Port Chalmers.
