Nga Taonga Sound Vision1:20 New Zealand Retro - Gyms

Today's Retro explores the rise in popularity of the modern gym - how did it evolve from a place mainly for muscle bound men, to a venue where both men and women sought to gain fitness?  We talk to gym founder Les Mills, to instructor Susan Trainor, and to two gym members who've been regular attendees for decades - Phil Briars and Annette Hugill.

2:10 Police Collection of Human Remains - Rowan Carroll

A back-room police museum collection has housed 37 sets of human remains, in storage, for decades. And now, the remains will be laid to rest by the New Zealand Police Museum in Porirua. The collection includes remains of murder victims and was used for investigative training by detectives in the 1920s and 1930s. New Zealand Police Museum director Rowan Carroll explains.

There is an online world beyond cute cat videos and Facebook.  The murky world of trolls, black markets and extremists exists just a few keystrokes away. Jamie Bartlett, the director of the Centre for the Analysis of Social Media immersed himself in the  secret corners of encrypted  and untraceable websites. Drug dealers, even jihadists use it to recruit. Bartlett has written a book about his journey into the online shadows called The Dark Net: Inside The Digital Underworld.
