1:15 Clinton V Trump in Second Televised Debate

The second round of the presidential debates will start shortly in St Louis, and it could get nasty. US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will meet Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. But it's been a rocky weekend for the Republicans, after a 2005 recording of Trump surfaced on Friday, revealing him bragging about groping women. Our correspondent, Simon Marks, explains.

Today is World Mental Health Day, and AUT is holding its annual event, with a goal of taking mental health issues out of the shadows. The day focuses on psychological and mental health first aid. Professor Max Abbott is the dean of AUT's Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences, he's a professor of Psychology and Public Health. And the former president of the World Federation for Mental Health, and founding national director of the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.

1:25 Veteran pilot, Guy Clapshaw

When film producers were looking for a pilot to fly a Percival Proctor Mark One plane like the one aviation pioneer Jean Batten flew for a film about her life, they found another aviation pioneer to do it.  Guy Clapshaw has flown almost every kind of aircraft - from World War Two jet fighters to Fox Moths and 747 Jumbo Jets.

And he owns a plane that is almost identical to the one Jean Batten used  to become the first person to make a direct flight from England to New Zealand.   The 80th anniversary of that flight is next week.

Guy Clapshaw writes about his long and career flying for Air New Zealand, from the days when  human beings did the navigation with the help of computers, not the other way around, to the era of the jumbo jet.

His book is called Tasman Echo Alpha.

3:10 How did rock music get so white?

Just around midnight by Jack Hamilton

When rock and roll first burst onto the music scene in the 1950's, black artists like Chuck Berry and Sam Cooke were pioneers. By the time Jimi Hendrix died in 1970, he was an outlier; a black artist playing lead guitar  in a rock and roll band.

How did rock get so white?   Jack Hamilton, a professor of Media Studies at the University of Virginia and music critic for Slate, explores the issue of race and music in his new book, Just around Midnight Rock and Roll and the Racial Imagination.
