1:10 First poem

This year marks the 20th anniversary of National Poetry Day, so today instead of a first song, we're having a first poem.

A new poetry anthonology has just been release the 20/20 Collection - 40 poems by New Zealand poets to mark the anniversary.  National poetry day falls on the last Friday in August

Among the contributors to the book is Wellington poet Jenny Bornholdt who reads us her poem, Becoming Girl.

1:15 Government being sued over climate targets

A Hamilton law graduate is going to the High Court, to take on the Government's policy on climate change. It's thought to be the first case of its kind in New Zealand. The move by 26-year-old Sarah Thomson wasn't initially taken that seriously, with John Key dismissing the case as a "joke". But the case is going to the Wellington High Court next month.

1:25 Hundertwasser Art Centre

The community-led, Hundertwasser Art Centre project, is appealing to Aucklanders for help. The project is in the final stages of fundraising and tonight a pop-up concert is being held, in a bid to reach a total project cost of more than 20 million dollars. Whangarei Art Museum Trust's chairperson, Grant Faber, has been involved in making the building a reality. And he'll be speaking at the HART fundraiser tonight. Tickets are available at the door, and online.

A team of mountaineers, including Lydia Brady, have just become the first New Zealanders to reach the summit of the 7th highest peak in the world - Dhaulagiri 816 in Nepal

It was a grueling climb, not just the mountain itself, but the walk to get there along dangerous cliff tracks.
