NZ Retro - The Year 1963
This week we present 1963. The year New Zealand came a little closer to the rest of the world with the introduction of the inaugural twice weekly London - New Zealand jet airline service. The British Overseas Airways Corporation's de Havilland Comet 4 touched down at Whenuapai at 4pm on April 4th. The Mangare International airport was still three years from opening and all air traffic serving Auckland shared the RNZAF base.
