NZ Retro - The Year 1988

To a time when petrol was 88 cents a litre at the pump, a packet of 20 cigarettes would set you back $6 and a glass of beer at your local watering hole would have been about 91 cents. There were 3.3 million of us then, the averge three-bedroom house in the suburbs would have set you back $106,000 and the average section about $39,000, mind you mortgage interest rates were up around the 14.6% mark.
