The Ace Lady  Network started as a bit of a joke between friends Anna Dean and Angela Meyer as an antidote to the gentlemens club.

The network started after Anna and Ange met while working together at the City Gallery in Wellington.

"The conversations she and I have together are often around lady power, lady business and we just thought that we wanted a place where we could share some of these interesting stories with each other first of all and we started the Facebook page and a core group of friends immediately started following and it just grew organically to where it is today."

The Facebook page now boasts over 2,000 fans with posts ranging in topic from love and relationships, health and the workplace.

The Ace Lady Network has recently expanded to host events at the headquarters of their marketing and communications agency, Double Denim. They have hosted talks from the poet Hera Lindsay Bird and Facebook Australia's director of policy.

Anna sees the network as a physical and online space "where ace women talk about interesting things".

"I was looking around and seeing how many facilities or groups or organisations that exist for men to socialise and network and share business discussions, go and have a round of golf etc.

"We were like, how can we provide a facility where we can just try and share some of those… problems, or areas of questioning or things that are going on in womens' lives that aren’t discussed in that mainstream media environment?"
