Sound Archives: 80's Kiwi Sports Anthems

From Jesse Mulligan, 1–4pm, 1:32 pm on 3 May 2017

They're known as 'stadium anthems' - or 'jock jams' in the US - music tracks which are pumped out at sporting events to get the crowd hyped. They also feature heavily in the soundtrack to television and radio sports broadcasts - other favourites are songs such as Queen's "We Are the Champions" or "Another One Bites the Dust". And we have a few of our own Kiwi sports anthems. Sarah Johnston is going to play us a few from the sound archives of Nga Taonga Sound & Vision.
