Live at the Apollo by James Brown and the Famous Flames was recorded at the Apollo Theater in Harlem on the night of October 24, 1962 at Brown's own expense. It was released the following year and spent 66 weeks on the Billboard Top Pop Albums chart, peaking at number 2. In 2003, the album was ranked number 25 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and was also ranked as the number 1 live album in its 50 greatest live albums list. In 1998, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame
