The latest honour to be bestowed on the only surviving commander of the 28th Maori Battalion is from his old high school. Major Hone Waititi recently made the 2009 1st 15"Old Boys"team of Te Aute College. Te Aute wanted to recognise former students who had gone on to become leaders in their fields.
