Flintstones 50th birthday

It's an historic occasion for a prehistoric family. The Flinstones are turning 50. The modern stone-age family as they called themselves were on TV between 1960 and 1966. It was never just an ordinary Saturday morning cartoon, Fred and Wilma broke ground new ground in the first animated prime-time show which. It's become a cultural touchstone. In New Zealand, Barney, Fred, Wilma, Pebbles, Bam Bam and Dino are featured in a google doodle today. The 166 episodes have lived on in re-runs. Jerry Beck is an animation historian and the author of a book about The Flinstones he's on the line with us from Los Angeles.
