Adventurer Steve Gurney and his mate Steve Moffatt can now say with great authority that hobnail boots don't cut the ice when it comes to footwear protection on Mount Cook. The two Steves have been following in the footsteps of 1890 mountaineers Marmaduke Dixon and George Mannering.
