Some people dream of packing in their 9-5 jobs to write a novel. Ian Packman has actually done it. For years he had the bones of a book idea rattling around his head about a boy who is told a captivating story by an old man who suddenly disappears, never to be seen again. So he gave up a six-figure salary working aboard support vessels that serve the oil and gas industry off the Taranaki Coast to write full time.
